Wendy Lee, LCSW, LAC
Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addiction Counselor
Helping others.
As far back as my memory will recall I knew that’s what I wanted to do with my life.
My career in social work and addiction counseling began in an adolescent residential treatment center. I didn’t realize it at the time, but looking back, that experience with teens, who are generally the most reluctant of clients to accept the need for change in their behavior, prepared me for what would become my greatest strength as a counselor—the ability to reach into a person’s heart and help them become the person they know they want to be and are capable of becoming. I take no credit for changing people. I simply help my clients find the courage to face the vulnerabilities about themselves… and then change from within for a lifetime.
I became proficient at working with people who were ambivalent about change, had difficulty managing their emotions and interactions with others and wanted to change, but were not convinced they could change even if they tried. I also gained an early appreciation for the emotional suffering that my clients endure and how those emotions strip them of bravery, self-esteem, and inner peace. With the most modern tools and techniques, including those that I’ve developed myself, I help my clients overcome their suffering so that the suffering no longer overcomes them.
I was born and raised in the tiny community of Dolores, Colorado and moved to Ft Collins to attend college in 1990. I’m a mother of three daughters and wife to a fireman Battalion Chief. I graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelors degree as well as a Masters in Social Work. In addition, I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor through the State of Colorado, which qualifies me to support patients who struggling with substance abuse. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR which are the foundation for my clinical philosophy. With this background, I can relate to my clients personally as well as a trained professional, and help you learn new skills to manage the emotional turmoil you are experiencing, whether it is at work, home, or in a relationship. Many people want to change. It is my goal to help individuals and families break the cycle of suffering, and identify the obstacles that are blocking their journey to a happy and successful life. I help you find hope and courage so that you can do the rest.
I respect all aspects of people including race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, age, religion and ability.
